FFConf has a reputation for being friendly and welcoming but we still appreciate that coming to a conference where you might not know anyone can be a daunting prospect.

We want to share how you can experience FFConf's welcoming atmosphere:

🎤 Show and Tell with Async. Our friends at Async run a very special International Show & Tell the night before FFConf. They welcome you to give a 5 minute talk or just attend and meet fellow delegates on a smaller scale.

🏃 Fancy an early morning run? A casual 5K run led by friendly FFConf locals for all levels of fitness before the conference opens. See Brighton before the city really wakes up and hope for some sunshine!

☕️ For those who prefer a slower start to the day, our friends at Brighton Codebar host a coffee morning to welcome delegates for early refreshments.

🍲 Lunch with Future Friends! Remy has experienced that moment at a conference when everyone piles out of the venue in groups and he has been left eating a sandwich alone. We never want this to happen to you so we reserve a large area in two nearby pubs so just turn up and break bread.

🕺 Social with your attendees. You can’t visit Brighton without seeing the beach (even if it is November!). We will continue the conversations and enjoy food, drinks and board games with your new friends.

Join us on 13th November for learning, connection and ice cream. Just three weeks left to grab your ticket!

All the socialising can feel daunting so highlighting the words of Tereza, a previous attendee:

As a shy, low-energy introvert who can struggle in social situations (and absolutely cannot stand “networking”), I am always surprised at how much I enjoy the post-conference social. I interpret this as a sign of how friendly and inclusive the ffConf community is.

You get a chance to chat with brilliant, kind and funny people. Even if, like me, you feel out of place and are terrified at first. Chances are there are others, so you can find them, or someone will introduce themselves or include you in a conversation.

Community News

Do you have something you would like us to shout about? We would love to support our community so let us know what you are working on - a project, an event, a training course, a podcast. Please let us know, we would love to spotlight some of our FFConf Community.

And now from someone who isn't part of our community, but has somehow managed to articulate AI and LLMs far better than any of the Big Tech bros and created a data set based on consent: yes, Ben Affleck has answers (though that clip is the one that's going viral, this 4 minute segment is another good perspective on how things can be done).

And if you need a break from dealing with the many recent vulnerabilities (:cough:PHP:cough:), the lovely Bramus just released the 1997 Grand Theft Auto for your browser - so you can bury your head in retro gaming instead.
