Going back in time to 2017 when Bruce Lawson tell us If you're going out of San Francisco, be sure to wear Web Standards in your hair

Nine years later, his words now also ring true for AI:

These frameworks are just tools so as we professionalise, we shouldn't lose sight of artisanship. An artisan is a worker in a skilled trade especially one that involves making things by hand. As we have frameworks and machines to build our websites, we shouldn't lose the artisan mentality of giving a sh*t about the end product.

Addressing an audience that cares deeply about the web, Bruce ended with a hard-hitting mandate: big platforms profit off horrors like YouTube's abuse generators, Amazon's scam bots, and Facebook's role in the Myanmar violence. Developers building on these systems must speak up and demand accountability for what their tools enable.
